Service Details

The benefits and features of AD include:

  • Authentication to resources such as individual and lab computers can be offered by campus ID and password, eliminating the need to create and maintain local accounts.
  • Security groups can be created to automatically maintain groups to control access to resources, such as computers and file shares.
  • Organizational Unit (OU) administrators can use AD to automatically control access to resources.
  • Security groups include those based on department affiliation, campus roles, academic courses, etc.
  • Security group memberships are updated daily as the status of employees and students change throughout the day.
