Your CSULB Account

The CSULB Account Password Service allows you to:

  1. Establish your CSULB Account password (as a new student or employee)
  2. Reset an existing password, or
  3. Unlock your account

Your @student.csulb.edu (for students) or @csulb.edu (for employees) account password expires every 365 days.  After several failed attempted sign-ins, your account will lock. In such a scenario, you can use the method below to unlock your account. 

Forgot Password / Create a New Password

  1. Visit https://password.csulb.edu and enter your email address and captha information. Select "Next."
  2. Select the option “I forgot my password” and click “Next.” Password service window showing I forgot my password
  3. Choose the contact method to use for verification.  For Microsoft Authenticator App users, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and tap on the account in question. A code will appear. For SMS text or Phone Call method users, obtain the code you received.  Enter the verification code provided by the app, text, or phone call into the field provided and click “Next.” Password service window asking for verification code
  4. Enter your new password, confirm new password, and click “Finish.” Entering a new password window

  6. You will receive a confirmation email to your @student or @csulb email account confirming your password change.Confirmation email for password reset

You Know Your Password but Can’t Sign In 

Your account may be locked due to too many failed attempts to sign in. If this occurs, you can unlock your password using the following method: 

  1. Visit https://password.csulb.edu 
  2. Enter your campus email account and security characters displayed on screen (not case-sensitive), and click “Next.” Get back into your account password window
  3. Select the radio button next to “I know my password, but still can’t sign in” and click “Next.” Password service window asking why are you having trouble signing in
  4. Choose the contact method to use for verification.  For Microsoft Authenticator App users, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and tap on the account in question. A code will appear. For SMS text or Phone Call method users, obtain the code you received. Enter the verification code provided by the app, text, or phone call into the field provided and click “Next.” Window asking to enter verification code
