Preferred Name Change Process for Employees

Be advised, as an employee, you are eligible to submit a preferred name change to reflect this preference. If approved, this preferred name will be displayed within most campus systems including your Employee/Faculty Center, BeachBoard account, and will also update your CSULB email display name. For instructions on submitting a preferred name change, follow the steps listed below.

Accessing Employee Center via Single-Sign-On:

  • Under the Employee Information heading select "Personal Information Home"
  • From the list of options, select "Names"
  • You will find your current 'Primary' and 'Preferred' names.   To continue changing your preferred name, select "Contact Us"
  • Tick the "Change Preferred Name" checkbox and enter your preferred name in the comment section below

Please allow 24-48 hours for approval and account processing.  Please note: Changing your preferred first and/or last name will result in a change to your University email address. It will also change how your name appears in systems that use preferred first and last name fields, such as campus directories.
