Overview
The Time and Attendance process will generate various email messages to both the employee and manager approving time. The following messages are examples of the types of email messages one may receive during the pay period.
Reminder Email to Employee for Time Entry
The email example below is a reminder to employees who have not submitted time by approximately the 20th of the month. Reminder emails will be sent every 3 days until the employee enters and submits their time accordingly.

REMINDER: Please update and submit your attendance report for the _____ pay period by _____.
Date covered for this pay period: _____ through _______.
Please follow these steps access and update your attendance report. Use a Web browser to open the campus Single Sign-On (SSO) service webpage at http://sso.csulb.edu.
- Login with your campus credentials.
- Once logged in to SSO, select the “Time Entry” icon and you’ll be directed to the “Report and View Absence” website.
- Once you are on the “Report and View Absence” page, please select the Absence Event dropdown and select absence type with corresponding begin and end dates, and then select Calculate Duration button. Add or remove Absence Events using the plus or minus buttons on each line.
- Once you have finished, select the “Submit” button to finalize your entries. You must select “Submit” even if you have no absences to report for this pay period.
- Please remember to logout when you are finished.

Remind Email to Manager for Time Approval
Email reminder to approvers who have not approved time by the 28th of the month. Reminder emails will be sent every 3 days until payroll cutoff for approvers who fail to approve time.

Please follow these steps to review and approve:
- Use a Web browser to open the campus Single Sign-On (SSO) service webpage at http://sso.csulb.edu.
- Login with your campus credentials.
- Once logged in to SSO, select the “Time Approval” icon and you’ll be directed to the time and attendance approval website.
- Once you are on the “Time Approval” page, please select the employee(s) listed and click “Continue”.
- Review and approve your staff’s time and attendance, and use the clickable instructions on the page if needed.
- Please remember to logout when you are finished.

Email Confirmation when Time is Entered for Employee
The following example illustrates a scenario where an Timekeeper or Manager enters time on behalf of the employee. This scenario typically occurs when the employee is absent the final day of the pay period and time is entered on their behalf to correct the monthly time reporting. The from email address of the message will always be from the Timekeeper/Manager of the person who entered time on the employees behalf.
