CSULB Desktop Base Software Standards

Overview

The following software standards are intended to be a consistent baseline for all university-owned Windows and Macintosh computers.  College and department approved applications can be added to this base standard as appropriate. These standards assumes versions are updated to the latest patched level.

Minimum Standards

Windows 

Minimum Software Standards Comments
Windows 10 64 preferred. Excludes Home version
Adobe Acrobat DC PDF reader
Adobe Creative Cloud  
Google Chrome Enterprise Enterprise preferred. Meets CMS Certifications
Microsoft Edge Meets CMS Certifications
Mozilla FireFox ESR ESR preferred. Meets CMS Certifications
Office (Microsoft) 2021 or 365 64 bit preferred
Bitlocker All laptops will maintain encryption software
Microsoft Defender Anti-Virus University managed
SCCM/EndPoint Agent All University-owned devices will be managed
Zoom  
Teams  
Global Protect Virtual Private Network (VPN) For devices that may be used off-campus
OneDrive Sync enabled and profile folders mapped

MacOS Within the latest 2 versions
Adobe Acrobat DC PDF reader
Adobe Creative Cloud

FileVault encryption  All laptops will maintain encryption software

Apple School Manager (ASM) / JAMF All University-owned devices will be managed
Zoom  
Teams  
Global Protect Virtual Private Network (VPN) For devices that may be used off-campus
OneDrive Sync enabled and profile folders mapped
