  1. What’s the difference between SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business, and which should I use?
    1. SharePoint Online is recommended for department and team files that other people should access. One Drive for Business is for your personal use, such as for personal work files.
  2. Are there limitations or restrictions on what I can save on SharePoint Online? What types of information can be stored on SharePoint Online (FERPA, HIPAA, GLBA, etc.)?
    1. Before choosing to store and share information, consider the sensitivity and protected nature of the information, including applicable university/state/federal policies, laws, Executive Orders, regulations, contractual obligations or other restrictions.
  3. Can I share SharePoint Online sites or documents with students or someone outside of CSULB?
    1. Sites and documents stored on SharePoint Online can be shared with anyone.  Microsoft has prepared instructions on how to do so in this article titled Share sites or documents with people outside your organization.
  4. How do I change site ownership?
    1. Request that your department/college technical coordinator submit a support request to DoIT with the following information:
      1. Site Name/URL
      2. Current site owner(s) to be removed
      3. New site owner(s) to be added
  5. How much space does my SharePoint site have?
    1. A SharePoint Online site storage space is defaulted to 1 TB, but can be increased upon request by having your department/college technical coordinator submit a support request ticket to DoIT.
  6. What are the recommended settings for versioning?
    1. Site libraries include a feature called versioning. This feature keeps previous versions of documents available that can be restored at any time. For more information on versioning see Microsoft article Enable and configure versioning for a list or library.
  7. What web browsers are supported?
    1. SharePoint Online is designed to work with the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge, but Internet Explorer is recommended, as it tends to be the most compatible.
