How to Create Bookmarks/Favorites for Web Browsers


To bookmark or favorite a web page, you are creating a shortcut to access that web page's address. This is a more efficient method of accessing a webpage compared to repeatedly typing in the URL address. 


Adding a Bookmark

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to the site you want to visit again in the future.
  3. To the right of the address bar, click the Star.

Find a Bookmark

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More  > Bookmarks.
  3. Find and click a bookmark.


Show or Hide the Bookmarks toolbar

  1. Click on the menu button , then click More tools and select Customize Toolbar….
  2. Click the Toolbars button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Go to the Bookmarks Toolbar menu and choose one of these settings:
    • Always Show will show the Bookmarks toolbar on all pages.
    • Never Show will hide it on all pages.
    • Only Show on New Tab will show the Bookmarks toolbar only on the New Tab page.
  4. Click Done.

Adding a Bookmark 

  1. Set the Bookmarks toolbar to Always Show so that you can see it on all pages.
  2. Go to the page you want to add to the Bookmarks toolbar.
  3. In the address bar, click and drag the padlock icon onto the Bookmarks toolbar.


Adding a Website to Favorites

  1. In the Safari app  on your Mac, move the pointer over the Smart Search field.
  2. Click and hold the One-Step Add button that appears at the left end of the field, then choose Favorites.
  3. You can also click in the Smart Search field, then drag the URL of the webpage you’re viewing to the Favorites bar near the top of the window, the Favorites folder in the sidebar, or the Favorites area in the start page.

Viewing Your Favorites

In the Safari app  on your Mac, do any of the following:

  • View your Favorites from the Smart Search field: Click in the Smart Search field to see your Favorites in the start page view, then click the icon of the website you want to visit. The start page view goes away if you start typing, and it doesn’t appear if you click the field while you’re viewing the start page.


Adding a Website to Favorites

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and go to the site you want to add to your favorites.
  2. Select the Add this page to favorites  button in the address bar.
  3. Rename the favorite (if you want to) and/or choose a different folder to save it in, and then select Done.
