Office 365 Email Setup on Apple Mobile Devices (iPhone, iPad)

The steps below provide instruction on how to setup email on your iOS mobile device using the native mail app to synchronize mail, calendar and contacts.

To Remove Your CSULB Account (iOS 14 and newer)

If your email account is not responsive, removing the account and re-adding it often resolves account problems. 

Step by step (text only):

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Mail
  3. Select Accounts
  4. Select your existing account, likely called “Exchange
  5. Select Delete Account, and confirm Delete

To Add Your CSULB Account (iOS 14 and newer)

Step by step (text only):

  1. Go to Settings (once you delete the account, you’ll likely already be in Settings)
  2. Go to Mail
  3. Select Add Account
  4. Select Microsoft Exchange
    1. Enter your Email
    2. Select “Sign In” (Do Not select Configure Manually)
  5. If prompted, select “Work or School Account
  6. Sign-in to the Campus Single Sign-On (SSO) screen with your campus email address and password
  7. Follow remaining steps on screen to synch your services such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, etc.

  1. Go to settings
  2. Go to Mail
  3. Select Accounts
  4. Select Add Account

  6. Enter your full campus email address and select Next.

  7. Select “Sign In” (Do Not select Configure Manually)

  8. If prompted, select “Work or School Account”

  9. Sign-in to the Campus Single Sign-On (SSO) screen with your campus email address and password

  10. Follow remaining steps on screen to synch your services such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, etc.

To remove your University provided email from your iOS device (iOS11 to iOS13):

  1. Click the Settings Button on the Home screen
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords
  3. Select your Exchange Account
  4. Press the red Delete Account option at the bottom of the screen and confirm deletion

This will remove your Exchange email account from your iPad, and you will be able to connect to a new Exchange email account.

To add your University provided email to your iOS device (iOS11 to iOS13):

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Settings icon.
  2. Accounts & Passwords
  3. Tap Add Account
  4. Tap Exchange
  5. Enter your full email address (e.g. Prospector.Pete@student.csulb.edu for students or Prospector.Pete@csulb.edu for employees) and description for the account (e.g. Exchange)
  6. Tap Description (Enter CSULB or your preference for CSULB email)
  7. Tap next
  8. Sign in to your "CSULB.EDU" exchange account using Microsoft?
  9. Tap Sign In
  10. Tap Work or School Account
  11. Enter the following when prompted
    • Username: University email address (@csulb.edu or @student.csulb.edu)
    • Password: Campus ID password
    • Email: your @student.csulb.edu (for students) or @csulb.edu (for employees) email address
  12. Tap Sign In
  13. Tap Save
