Password Reset Instructions

Overview

The University requires all users to reset their password once per year. Follow these procedures to reset your password before your password is expired.

Reset Password When On-Campus

When changing your password while on-campus, visit the Password Manager. Follow the prompts presented on-screen. Please remember to update all of your devices to reflect your new password. This includes Wi-Fi and email on your desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and/or mobile devices.

Reset Password When Off-Campus

When changing your password while off-campus, visit the Password Manager. Follow the prompts presented on-screen.

For employees who have a University-provided computer off-campus, please do the following:

  • Connect to the University using the Global Protect Virtual Private Network (VPN) client with your new password (username is your campus email address). If you have not installed the Global Protect Virtual Private Network (VPN) client, please visit the service page for instructions.
  • Press the “Ctrl-Alt-Del” keys on your keyboard simultaneously to bring up the system menu.
    • Select “Lock This Computer”
  • Press the “Ctrl-Alt-Del” keys on your keyboard simultaneously again to bring up the system menu.
  • Log in using the new password.
  • Please allow approximately five minutes for the password to synchronize with Microsoft Office 365 services.

Remember to update your passwords on all devices and services (desktop computer, laptop, tablet, and/or mobile devices). Your devices may gradually prompt you automatically.

What to do if you are Experiencing a Problem

If you're experiencing problems, the most common issue is your old password is being saved or stored locally on your computer. Please refer to the article on how to clear old passwords saved to Windows Credential Manager of your Mac Keychain. If you're unable to resolve the issue on your own, please contact your local support team or the Technology Help Desk at helpdesk@csulb.edu or 562.985.4959.
